“Ms. Enfys Communion Band” is a brand new Quintet, consisting of students from the Danish Royal
Academy Of Music. Mads Oldenskov and Theis Coermann created the group as they wanted to have an
output, where their own compositions would be the main repertoire. The Band had its debut concert in
february 2023, at the annual danish winter jazz-festival.
Theis Coermann (dr, comp) is originally from Møn and moved to Odense to study at the Royal Academy last
summer, under guidance of teachers such as Anders Mogensen, Claus Waidtløw and Erik Ørum. Amongst
others, he has worked with Kiberly Gordon, Bo Stief and Simon Thorsen.
Mads Oldenskov (gtr, comp) got accepted at the Academy already, at 17 years old. He is well underway
with his 2nd year as a student there. In 2021 he reached the semifinales in the ”Jarek Smietana” guitarcompetition where he went on to win one of the “Smietana-awards”.
Next year he will be touring with Pat Metheny’s rhythm group from the 70´s and 80’s.
Emil Madsen (b) Has in a very short time taken a firm grip on the local jazz scene thanks to his incredibly
solid sound, time and feel on the bass. He Graduates from the academy this summer. He has already
worked with great musicians such Anders Mogensen and Niels Lan Doky.
Jan Kusz (sax) & Tomaz Kusz (tr) are 2 very exciting, young polish talents, whom also are well underway
with their 1st year at the Royal Academy.
Johan Jep Christensen (sax) is a unique and exciting saxophonist. He has his own unique way of
providing his own sound into his music. He is also graduating from the Academy this summer. Johan is
the bandleader of the group “Osmosis”.
